u4gm Guide to Beating Krutog Lord of Kin in PoE 2 Act 4
When you're sprinting through Act 4 in Path of Exile 2, it's tempting to skip anything that isn't on the main road. I used to do that too, then wondered why my character felt a bit behind later on. Krutog, Lord of Kin is one of those "optional" bosses that really isn't optional if you care about long-term power, and you'll want to be stocked up before you go—sometimes that means planning your upgrades early, even looking at things like Exalted Orb buy options so your build doesn't hit a wall mid-act. Getting to the Isle of Kin You're headed to the Isle of Kin, and the run there is half the problem. The Volcanic Warrens can drain you fast if you just autopilot through it. Packs rush you, corners get messy, and suddenly you've burned flasks before you even see the arena. When you finally reach Krutog, he's posted up on a huge throne with Matiki held captive. Don't stroll in at half health. The fight triggers the moment you get close, so take a second, swap in your best resist gear, and make sure your flasks aren't scuffed. What Makes Krutog Annoying He's not a "learn ten mechanics" boss. He's a durability test. Krutog's tanky, armored, and he shrugs off lightning damage like it's nothing. If your build leans hard into lightning, you'll feel it straight away unless you've got penetration, shred, or some way to pivot your damage. Physical setups aren't free either—you'll be chipping and waiting for openings. The good news is he's slow. Big windups, obvious swings, and plenty of time to react if you're watching his shoulders instead of your own DPS numbers. Fighting Clean Without Getting Boxed In The safest rhythm is simple: stay mobile, play his back, and don't get greedy. When he commits to a heavy swing, dodge through him or angle off to the side; backing up in a neat line is how you get clipped. Melee players need stamina discipline—one extra combo can cost you. Things get ugly when he starts chugging sulphite and puking toxic pools that stack pressure with physical and lightning damage. The arena fills up faster than you'd expect, so bait the pools to an edge, then drag him across to fresh ground. When he goes into the stomp sequence, just break contact, create space, and wait it out. Why You Should Still Kill Him Most people don't bother for the loot, and yeah, his drops are usually nothing special. The real value is rescuing Matiki and unlocking the Trial of the Ancestors side quest, because those permanent bonuses matter long after Act 4 is a memory. If you want your character to feel smoother as the game ramps up, it's worth doing the fight now while it's relevant, and if you like having a reliable place to pick up game currency or items with less hassle, u4gm is a solid option—then you can grab u4gm PoE 2 Currency when you're ready to push your build further without waiting on lucky drops.
